Water stress by 2040

Following World Resources Institute (WRI) recent studies, world water demand will increase steadily in forthcoming decades. Considering climate models and different socioeconomic scenarios they establish that 33 countries out of the 167 that have been studied, will suffer from a high water stress in 2040. Population’s growth generates higher consumption from humans, cattle industry and industrial activity. Among endangered countries Saudi Arabia (9), Chile (24) and Spain (32).
